Elise is a past student of the Unlimited Dance Company and she has kindly updated us with the following information -

Since the last update I have been working for Saddlers wells london youth dance where I have taught on several projects including Go Dance, Big Dance in July last year which broke a Guinness world record for the most people dancing the same routine at the same time and Time of your life academy which gave 10 groups of school children around London the chance to work with dance artists and to perform at the lilyan baylis theatre at saddlers wells in April this year. Alongside this I have also completed my Yoga Teacher training which I qualified in in May and have been teaching in London and more recently spent a month teaching in Corsica. I will be spending November in India to do some more advanced study and training in the yoga capital of Rishikesh.

Previous Update

I'm working at the moment as a dancer on a project for a South Indian Dance Choreographer called Mayouri Boonham. There are 4 dancers including myself and we are developing ways of fusing Baratah Natyam (the south indian dance form) with Contemporary dance. So far it's been very hard work but I'm really enjoying the challenge of learning a new style, there are lots of different hand gestures and footwork steps to learn. There are no public performances yet as it's just a work in progress at the moment, but we are doing some 'sharings' in London Newcastle and Frome at the end of August where other choreographers come to watch and give their opinions on the dance so far.

Previous Update

I've been dancing with a group called Divaettes, its an all girls commercial/urban dance group, (kind of Pussy cat Dolls style), we're rehearsing at the moment for our first show which is 28th December at a Club Night in London for a Magazine launch which we're going to have a feature in- we did a photoshoot for this last week which was fun! I'll send you the feature when it comes out.

Previous Update

I'm doing a postgraduate diploma in dance performance at Chichester University, through Map Dance touring company. We worked with 5 choreographers (Shobana Jeyasingh, Liz Aggis, Charles Linehan, Laila Diallo and Ben Wright) to make five new pieces which we are touring around the UK and Denmark, going to arts centres, colleges and universities. As part of the tour I'm also leading workshops at the different venues we go to, giving some of the audiences an insight into the creative processes we went through to make the pieces.
